Four Southern Utah University football play ers have been named to The Sports Network’s preseason Football Championship Subdivision All-America team, it was announced Monday .
Senior quarterback Brad Sorensen of Grand Terrace, Calif., and South Ogden junior offensive lineman Gavin Farr were named to the first team. Senior defensive tackle Cody Larsen of Draper was a secondteam selection. Senior offensive lineman Zach Brackus of Salt Lake City made the third team.
The Thunderbirds’ four selections were the second-most of any school in the nation, just behind
defending national champion Stephen F. Austin, which placed five play ers on the team.
Sorensen, who has thrown for over 3,100 yards in each of the past two seasons, holds all but one
Southern Utah single-season passing record.
Farr earned first-team All-Great West Conference last season despite missing three games to injury .
Like Sorensen, he is a two-time all-league selection.
Larsen is a three-y ear starter, mostly at tackle. But he has lined up in every position on the defensive
line the past three y ears. He is a two-time all-conference selection.
Brackus is another three-y ear starter and a three-time all-conference selection. He has started every
game during his SUU career.
Southern Utah moves from the Great West Conference to the Big Sky this season. The Thunderbirds
open the 2012 season on Aug. 30 at Utah State.
