Three players with Utah connections have made some of the early football All-American lists for 2013.
BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy was chosen as a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation and as a third-team All-American by Athlon Sports.
BYU's press release announcing the Walter Camp selection had this to say about the Cougar senior: "Van Noy was the only FBS player in 2011 and 2012 to record a statistic in every major defensive category and lacks only a blocked kick and forced fumble in BYU’s bowl game to again record a stat in every category."
But Van Noy isn't the only one to gain national recognition. USA Today selected Utah State center Tyler Larsen to its second team All-American list. According to a Utah State press release, Larsen is the 12th Aggie to be named as a first or second-team All-American. He is also the only player from the MWC named as a USA Today All-American.
In addition, Timpview graduate and UCLA guard Su'a Filo was named as a second-team All-American by both Athlon Sports and USA Today. Su'a Filo's solid play helped UCLA to a 9-3 finish. The junior from Pleasant Grove was a Parade All-American while at Timpview and was an All-Pac-12 guard last season, according to his UCLA profile.
As additional organizations release their All-American selections, make sure to check back for all the latest updates.
